Undergraduate Programs

The Department of Geology and Geophysics offers three undergraduate degrees:  Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Geology, Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geology, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geophysics.

The 5-year B.S. + M.S. Degree Fast Track Program in Geology and Fast Track Program in Geophysics is an accelerated 5-year path leading to a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) and a Thesis-Option Master of Science (M.S.) in Geology. This program is designed to quickly prepare exceptional students who would like to either enter the job market with an advanced degree or apply to PhD programs. 

A 5-year non-thesis degree program is offered with the Department of Oceanography:  BA or BS in Geology + Master of Ocean Science and Technology.

The department also offers undergraduate minors in Geology and in Geophysics, and a Certificate in Environmental and Engineering Geology.  Visit the Majors and Minors and Certificates page for more information on these undergraduate programs

Graduate Programs

Graduate work in both Geology and Geophysics are offered at the Master of Science (M.S.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) levels. 

The department also offers a Petroleum Geoscience Certificate to graduate students in the department of Geology and Geophysics.
