Research

Brennan Young’s research sits at the confluence of geological/geomorphological mapping and remote sensing/GIS-T. His interests are in understanding and quantifying fundamental spatial relationships in surfaces and imagery to objectively characterize surface phenomena and interpret landscape genetics and processes. He loves mountain and badlands topography, inspired by the remarkable geologic exposure of his home state, Utah. His current research involves semantic modeling of sand dune topography for automated mapping and characterization to better understand the stratigraphic record in impact craters on Mars.
