Phone: Mr. Shay ChapmanB.S. Geology, Utah State University, 2007
Research Interests:My research involves the use of thermochronology to constrain the timing of motion on thrust faults in the Idaho-Wyoming-Utah Fold and Thrust Belt. In general, my interest is in understanding how the kinematics and geometries of thrust systems change over time and using various tools to constrain the events that led to the modern thrust system. Geological Experience:Field assistant: Profiling stream sediments, total station survey, Dirty Devil River, Utah: Utah State University. 2007 Field Assistant: Measuring orientations and stratigraphic sections of sedimentary rock, Uinta Mountains, Utah: Utah State University. 2007 Field Assistant: Mapping and profiling sheeting joints in granite plutons, Yosemite National Park, California: University of Hawaii. 2007 Field Assistant: Paleoseismic trenching of the East Cache Fault, Paradise, Utah: Utah State University. 2007-2008 Lab Technician: Sedimentary rock sample preparation (powders): Utah State University. 2006 Lab Technician: Igneous rock sample preparation (powders, probe mounts, and rock chips): Utah State University 2006-2007 Unpublished Senior Thesis: Analysis of the termination of the Teasdale reverse fault, Teasdale Utah: Utah State University. 2007 Teaching Experience:Teaching Assistant: Geology of the World’s Oceans, spring 2007, Utah State University. Tutor: Geology of the World’s Oceans, spring 2007, Utah State University. Undergraduate Teaching Fellow: Introductory Geology, fall 2007, Utah State University. Teaching Assistant: Geology 101, fall 2008-fall 209, Texas A&M University. Teaching Assistant: Geology Field Camp, summer 2009, Texas A&M University. Teaching Assistant: Geology 312, Structural Geology and Tectonics, spring 2010, Texas A&M University. |
