Research Interest:

Carbonates Sedimentology and Sequence Stratigraphy

Current Research:

My current research work is on the middle and late Miocene carbonate sequences of Cyrenaica, NE Libya. The project is surface geology work that applies sedimentological, sequences stratigraphic, and chemostratigraphic techniques on these middle to late Miocene outcrops. These rock units are made of one group (the Al-Rajmah group) that comprises both the Benghazi formation and Wadi Al-Qattarah formation. However, the Wadi Al-Qattarah formation has a lateral equivalent in the southern part of the study area that shows a mixture of carbonates and silicicalstics.

Work Experience:

  • Wireline Junior Field Engineer, Schlumberger Oil Services Company, Local-Mobile Contract.
  • Staff Member at Garyounis University, Benghazi, Libya.
  • Conducted Sedimentological and Stratigraphic field work on Late Miocen carbonate rocks of the Cyrenaica, NE Libya.
  • Conducted Sedimentological and Stratigraphic field work on Late Miocen carbonate rocks of the Sirt Basin, central Libya.
  • Conducted Sedimentological and Stratigraphic Core description on the Devonian-Carboniferous rocks of the Bakken Formation, Williston Bain in the U.S.
