Research Interest

My scientific interests are:

  1. Structural geology,
  2. Geo/thermochronology, and
  3. Structural modeling.

Current research projects in the Ouachita orogen, Arkansas:

1) Dating calcite in syntectonic veins to constrain timing of their formation,

2) Dating two size fractions of illite and further clay mineralogy work to investigate timing of thermal events based on maturation trends recognized in M.S. research, and

3) Development of a 3-dimensional thermal/fluid-flow model.

Under the tutelage of Dr. David V. Wiltschko, new timing and thermal constraints for the interior portions of the Ouachita orogen, Arkansas and retrodeformable cross sections resulted in an improved 3-D kinematic model [Johnson, 2011].
