Field Research Experience

Indiana University Underwater Science Research, Living Museums of the Sea Project (Dominican Republic) May 2010, May 2011, and May 2012

  • Evaluated geomorphology, sea floor sedimentology, and paleoecology of 3 dive sites annually on the southeastern coast of Dominican Republic
  • Worked with Dominican Republic Peace Corp Members and locals on community outreach projects about the importance of ocean and coral reef ecosytem health

Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore (IDNLS) June 2011-August 2011

  • Monitored water quality and assessed the IDNLS aquatic resources
  • Collected sediment, biochemical, and bacteriological (E. coli) samples to assess the ecological integrity of IDNLS
  • Performed, analyzed, and compared sediment cores of various beaches in the park
