Welcome Back!
Rick GiardinoHowdy,

We’re glad you’re visiting the Geology & Geophysics Department website. A lot of fascinating teaching, learning, and research is happening here, and we want to keep you informed and involved. We continue to provide all of our students a strong foundation in classical geology. Since merging into one department in 1994, the interaction of faculty and students in geology and geophysics has promoted interdisciplinary research and encouraged students to gain a broader-based geoscience education. The diverse research interests of our faculty include environmental geology and geophysics, engineering geology and geophysics, geochemistry, geodynamics, mineralogy and petrology, paleontology, seismology, sedimentary and petroleum geology, structural geology, and tectonophysics.

Find out more about the work of individual faculty members and graduate students on our faculty profile pages or get an overview of all our research on the web site research pages. Stay up-to-date on current news and events in the Department and throughout the College by visiting our news page. And if you’re going to be in College Station, feel free to attend our colloquia or any special lectures. The ConocoPhillips Colloquium Series is held on Thursdays at 3:45 p.m. in the Dudley Hughes Lecture Hall (Room 101).

If you have any questions or need information, please let me know.

Rick Giardino, Ph.D.
