GEOGRAPHY OF THE MIDDLE EAST
This course is a survey of the regional geography of the Middle East, including the physical setting, environmental issues, urban-economic development and the historical evolution of the landscapes and cultures. Special emphasis placed on understanding the historical backgrounds to current geopolitical conflicts, such as the Arab-Israeli conflict in the 20th century and the current Arab Spring (Egypt, Syria), as well as some of the environmental and societal issues facing the ME in the early 21st century.
