Paleobiology, Sedimentology, and Earth System History

At Texas A&M, our intent is to foster an interdisciplinary curriculum and research program that focuses on interpreting the stratigraphic record to reconstruct ancient environments, understand Earth system history, and document the evolution of life. The program includes numerous faculty members and students from the Departments of Anthropology, Biology, Geography, Geology and Geophysics, and Oceanography, as well as scientists in the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP). We maintain a strong connection to the Interdisciplinary Research Program in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Texas A&M. In addition to a graduate-level curriculum that gives students the skills necessary for carrying out modern paleontological, stratigraphic, and global change research, our program encourages collaborative research, sponsors field trips, and holds weekly seminars.
