Research specialty: radiogenic isotopic geochemistry

Research:

Application and development of isotope and trace element geochemical proxies in an effort to further understand past and present-day processes at the Earth's surface. Some current research areas:

  • Variations in past rates of oceanic biological productivity and eolian fluxes and the relationship to past climate change
  • Changing patterns of deep-ocean sediment focusing and the relationship to changes in past ocean circulation and climate
  • Present-day and past riverine and eolian elemental fluxes to the oceans

Experience:

  • 2006-present: Associate Professor, Department of Geology and Geophysics, Texas A&M University
  • 2002-2006: Associate Professor, Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Tulane University
  • 1996-2002: Assistant Professor, Department of Geology, Tulane University.
  • 1995-1996: Post-doctoral research associate, Yale University. Osmium isotopes in coastal and deep-sea sediments. Advisor: Karl Turekian
  • 1994-1995: Post-doctoral research scientist, Columbia University. Helium in deep-sea sediments. Advisors: Robert Anderson and Peter Schlosser
