Numerous challenges exist in the effort to reclaim the Everglades and the entire South Florida (click on the picture for a larger image). This true-color MODIS image from February 17, 2002, shows the area encompassed by the south Florida, also called the greater Everglades, ecosystem. Photo courtesy of NASA.

The Internet has created a revolution in the distribution of Earth science data. The type of data that is available includes data on earthquake, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, stream flow, water quality, satellite images, and ecological data.
